Joe Tacopina, the founder and Managing Partner of Tacopina & Seigel, specializes in criminal, civil, and securities litigation.  Mr. Tacopina is an attorney who has positioned himself well as a committed legal professional and an accomplished leader.  In the past, he served as a prosecutor before bringing his skill to the criminal defense bar. 

Mr. Tacopina has tried more than 80 cases by the age of 42, earning him praises from the media as the “hottest young criminal defense lawyer” in New York. He is a member of the New York Council of Defense Lawyers, the Federal Bar Council, and the Judicial Committee for the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. In addition to these memberships, he is serving on the Legislative Committee for the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. 

Joe Tacopina has been commended by the media and the public, with praises such as “the best defense attorney in the country,” “one of the most prominent trial attorneys in America,” and “top-shelf, high-powered litigator.” An alumnus of Quinnipiac University School of Law, he obtained his license in 1992. Mr. Tacopina is fluent in both English and Italian.   

In his early days as a Kings County District Attorney’s Office prosecutor, he prevailed in 39 of 40 trials. As he entered private practice, he displayed his abilities in criminal defense law and public and press relations where he elevated to a new level in the criminal defense field.
